The workshop aimed to equip island countries, and countries with islands, with the tools and information needed for urgent responses to the threats associated with alien invasive species
PEBACC has four outputs:
1. Ecosystem and socio-economic resilience analysis and mapping (ESRAM) completed as a basis for adaptation planning at national, provincial and community levels.
2. EbA options analysed, prioritised and plans developed.
3. EbA plans implemented with demonstrated benefits.
4. Communications and outreach products developed to promote integration of EbA options into climate change policies, plans and projects.
The ESIA documents contain the policy and legal framework, details of the proposed project component, baseline environmental and social data, potential environmental and social impacts of the project and their mitigation measures. They also introduce the environmental management measures, environmental and social management plans (ESMP) and TORs for environmental specialists/officers of the contractors as well as the methods and results of the community engagement process. A grievance redress mechanism is also described
his NBSAP 2016 – 2020 was developed with the main purpose to identify the Kiribati Biodiversity priority action plans from 2017 - 2020. It is also a means to meet Kiribati’s obligation under the Convention on Biological Diversity which Kiribati is party to, to achieve the Aichi Targets set by the Convention for parties to work towards until 2020.
This document was developed with a vision statement, “The people of Kiribati continue to enjoy their natural biodiversity that is resilient to the impacts of climate change and supports the socio- economic livelihoods.
